Rainwater Harvesting and Greywater Reuse in Playa del Carmen

Rainwater in Playa del Carmen is soft, free and abundant from June to November, while the network delivers hard water and, at times, low pressure. That makes rooftop capture especially attractive here: rainwater does not scale heaters and fittings, and it fills a cistern quickly in the rainy season. For Playacar and Corasol villas, boutique hotels in the centre and condos with gardens and pools, adding greywater recycling cuts bills further.

Playa Reuse Projects

Playacar & Corasol Villas

Roof capture and cisterns that supply soft water for laundry, irrigation and pools.

Boutique Hotels

Greywater recycling for toilets and rooftop gardens in small hotels.

Condos

Shared cisterns and reuse for gardens and pools in condo complexes.

Soft Water Advantage

Rainwater blended or used directly to reduce scale on heaters and fittings.

Storm Control

Capture and retention that limits flooding in Playa's heavy downpours.

Smart Switching

Automatic switch between rain cistern and network with level monitoring.

Soft water from the sky

Playa’s network water is hard; rainwater is naturally soft. Using it for laundry, irrigation, pool top-up and, after RO and UV, even drinking reduces scale and softener salt. We add first-flush diverters so the first dirty rain is discarded, and filters sized for the leaves and dust of the dry season.

Boutique hotels and condos

In a 20–40 room hotel, greywater from showers can supply every toilet in the building. It needs a separate riser and a small treatment room, which is easiest during a renovation. For condos, shared rain cisterns under parking or gardens can serve common-area irrigation and pools.
