We paint houses, condos and hotels in Mahahual with the preparation the climate demands: washing, crack repair, primer and two coats of tropical-grade products. The village is fully exposed to the Caribbean and to hurricanes, so marine-grade metal, strong fixings and hurricane-ready finishes are essential; Hurricane Dean in 2007 flattened much of the village, and today shutters, anchored roofs and stainless hardware are part of every serious job.
Rust removal, anti-corrosive primer and marine enamel for railings, gates, pergolas and doors.
Stains, varnishes and oils for doors, decks, palapas and pergolas, with UV protection.
Repainting of buildings and common areas by sections, coordinated with the HOA and guests.
Mahahual is a small Costa Maya village with beach hotels, rentals and houses on the malecón and the road south, where most jobs are repairs, bathrooms, paint and storm recovery; many buildings are wooden or light block structures from the years after Hurricane Dean, and owners usually upgrade them step by step between seasons. We choose elastomeric facades, anti-mould interiors and marine enamels on metal according to this exposure.
Cruise-ship days and holidays bring peaks, so works in hotels are planned around them, with noisy tasks on days without ships and the quietest months, September and October, kept for larger renovations. Each job is planned for the type of building, from a single villa to a condo block painted by sections.
Supply is limited and many buildings use cisterns and rainwater, so low-flow fittings and storage are standard, and we often add rainwater collection from the roof to the cistern, with first-flush filters, to keep bathrooms and gardens working in the dry months.
Mahahual is about four hours from our workshops; we source cement, tile and fittings from Chetumal, about two hours away, bring specialised items from the north in one load and organise multi-day stays with crews lodged in the village.
Licences come from Othón P. Blanco municipality; the coast is under ZOFEMAT and close to the Banco Chinchorro reserve, so exterior works follow environmental limits.
