We build drywall partitions, false ceilings and lighting coves on Isla Mujeres with moisture-resistant boards and galvanised framing made for the coast. Isla Mujeres has older family houses in the centre, boutique hotels and a growing number of villas and condos towards the south point, many of them bought by foreigners who renovate rather than build new.
Green board and cement board for bathrooms, kitchens, terraces and soffits.
Mineral fibre and perforated boards for offices, restaurants and home cinemas.
Shops, clinics and offices built fast at night or on weekends to keep business open.
The island is small and fully exposed to the sea, so salt reaches everything: steel rusts quickly, paint chalks and hinges seize, which makes stainless fittings and marine enamels the default specification. It is the fastest way to add rooms, hide AC ducts and build ceiling details in this kind of property.
Works on the island are licensed by Isla Mujeres municipality, the beachfront falls under ZOFEMAT, and narrow streets and golf-cart traffic mean deliveries and debris removal must be planned with the town. Board type, framing and ventilation are chosen for this humidity so ceilings do not sag or stain.
Tourism is busy most of the year, so in rentals we work room by room and keep noise and dust inside agreed hours.
Materials and crews cross on the car ferry from Cancún, so we plan full loads, store materials on site and book ferry slots in advance; that crossing is reflected in prices.
Water is limited and pressure is irregular, so cisterns, rooftop tanks and filters are standard and every new bathroom or garden must be designed to use water sparingly.
