We remodel bathrooms on Isla Mujeres from the slab up: demolition, new plumbing, full waterproofing, tile, glass and extraction, under one fixed quote. Isla Mujeres has older family houses in the centre, boutique hotels and a growing number of villas and condos towards the south point, many of them bought by foreigners who renovate rather than build new.
Cementitious or liquid membrane over the whole shower and floor, flood-tested for 24 hours before any tile goes down.
Curbless showers with linear drains, tempered glass panels and niches built into the wall.
Ducted extractors sized for the room, because an open window is not enough in 85% humidity.
Water is limited and pressure is irregular, so cisterns, rooftop tanks and filters are standard and every new bathroom or garden must be designed to use water sparingly. That is why we size softeners, filters and pumps with the bathroom, and choose fittings that tolerate scale.
The island is small and fully exposed to the sea, so salt reaches everything: steel rusts quickly, paint chalks and hinges seize, which makes stainless fittings and marine enamels the default specification. Grout, paint, extraction and metal fittings are specified for these conditions so the bathroom still looks new after several seasons.
Works on the island are licensed by Isla Mujeres municipality, the beachfront falls under ZOFEMAT, and narrow streets and golf-cart traffic mean deliveries and debris removal must be planned with the town.
Tourism is busy most of the year, so in rentals we work room by room and keep noise and dust inside agreed hours.
Materials and crews cross on the car ferry from Cancún, so we plan full loads, store materials on site and book ferry slots in advance; that crossing is reflected in prices.
