We design and build gardens on Isla Mujeres with native and adapted plants, real topsoil over the limestone, irrigation and lighting, then maintain them if you are away. The island is small and fully exposed to the sea, so salt reaches everything: steel rusts quickly, paint chalks and hinges seize, which makes stainless fittings and marine enamels the default specification.
Palms, chit and kuka palms, ziricote, bougainvillea, ferns and grasses chosen for sun, shade and salt exposure.
Drip lines and sprinklers on timers, with filters for hard water and connection to cisterns or treated greywater.
Low-voltage LED uplights, path lights and palm lighting, with waterproof connections that survive the rainy season.
Water is limited and pressure is irregular, so cisterns, rooftop tanks and filters are standard and every new bathroom or garden must be designed to use water sparingly. The plant palette, windbreaks and soil depth are chosen for this exposure, not copied from a catalogue.
Works on the island are licensed by Isla Mujeres municipality, the beachfront falls under ZOFEMAT, and narrow streets and golf-cart traffic mean deliveries and debris removal must be planned with the town. Drip lines, timers and storage are sized to this supply so the garden survives the dry season.
Materials and crews cross on the car ferry from Cancún, so we plan full loads, store materials on site and book ferry slots in advance; that crossing is reflected in prices.
Isla Mujeres has older family houses in the centre, boutique hotels and a growing number of villas and condos towards the south point, many of them bought by foreigners who renovate rather than build new.
Tourism is busy most of the year, so in rentals we work room by room and keep noise and dust inside agreed hours.
