Every rainy season and hurricane leaves potholes in Bacalar; we repair with hot mix and rebuilt bases, then seal and re-stripe so the same spots do not fail again. Runoff must never carry sediment or oil into the lagoon; designs use swales, sediment traps, permeable paving and infiltration away from the shore rather than direct discharge.
Saw-cut, excavation of wet or broken base, recompaction, tack coat and hot mix, rolled flush.
Protective coatings that restore colour, close the surface and add years to tired asphalt.
Broken slab replacement, joint resealing and kerb and sidewalk repair.
Tourist traffic peaks in winter and holidays; works near the lagoon are best planned in the dry season to avoid sediment runoff during heavy rain. Repairs and sealing are scheduled in these windows, by sections, with traffic kept moving.
About three and a half hours from our yard but close to Chetumal’s suppliers; hot mix and materials come from the south of the state, which keeps costs slightly below Cancún. We choose hot mix, concrete or pavers for each repair according to this supply situation.
The municipality of Bacalar and environmental authorities protect the lagoon of seven colours and its stromatolites, so runoff and sediment from roadworks near the shore are strictly controlled.
Around the lagoon the ground is soft white limestone and sascab with clay areas; bases can lose strength when wet, so drainage and compaction control are critical.
