Floor and Tile Installation in Playa del Carmen: Flat, Bonded and Built for Heat
A large porcelain tile that rings hollow, a terrace that cracks after a hot week, a pool deck that gets too hot to walk on: most floor problems come from the substrate and the adhesive, not the tile. We level the base, use the right thin-set for the format and exposure, leave movement joints where the slab needs them and lay with levelling systems, so the floor stays flat, quiet and bonded.

What decides whether a floor lasts
Concrete slabs here move with heat and humidity, and outdoor tiles can reach 60 °C. Without perimeter and field movement joints the floor tents or cracks; with the wrong adhesive, large tiles debond and sound hollow. We check the slab level with a laser, grind or screed it, choose a C2 or flexible S1/S2 thin-set according to tile size and exposure, back-butter every large tile and place joints according to the area and the slab design.
Choosing the right material
- Porcelain: the best value for interiors and rentals, low maintenance, many stone and wood looks.
- Marble and stone: premium look; needs sealing and more care, especially in kitchens.
- Chukum and microcement: seamless, very local and cool to the touch; ideal for bathrooms and terraces.
- Outdoor: R11 anti-slip porcelain, coral stone or travertine around pools.
