A parking lot on Holbox is the first thing guests and customers see; we design and build it with the right pavement per zone, drainage, accessible bays and clear markings. Holbox has sand streets used by golf carts and bicycles, a growing number of hotels and villas, and demand for durable, permeable street surfaces that fit the island’s character.
Tree pits, planters and shade that keep cars cool and help meet green-area requirements.
Asphalt for bays, concrete at entrances, ramps, bins and truck routes where loads concentrate.
Thermoplastic or traffic paint, arrows, accessible symbols, wheel stops and signs.
Streets flood after rain because the water table is near the surface; grades, permeable paving and avoiding hard surfaces are the main tools. Grades, inlets and infiltration are designed for these conditions so storms drain in minutes.
High season from December to April and summer holidays crowd the streets; works are planned in short phases with minimal noise and machinery. We phase the works around this pattern so the business keeps operating.
The island is sand over shell and limestone with a very high water table, so conventional asphalt structures are rarely suitable; pavers, stabilised sand and concrete are the realistic options.
All materials cross by ferry from Chiquilá and move on the island with small vehicles, which makes Holbox the most expensive zone for paving and earthworks.
