We build wine rooms, glass wine walls and home cinemas in Mahahual: insulated envelope, vapour barrier, cooling, racks, acoustics and AV, delivered by one team. Mahahual is a small Costa Maya town with beachfront villas, dive lodges and the cruise pier; premium projects are few but large, with docks, spas and storm-ready envelopes.
Insulated glass enclosures for living and dining areas, with UV-safe LED lighting.
Family rooms with large displays, hidden speakers and acoustic panels that look like design elements.
Racks in tropical hardwood, metal or acrylic, bottle capacity planned with you.
The village is fully exposed to the Caribbean and to hurricanes, so marine-grade metal, strong fixings and hurricane-ready finishes are essential; Hurricane Dean in 2007 flattened much of the village, and today shutters, anchored roofs and stainless hardware are part of every serious job. Most projects here are villas and penthouses where the cellar or cinema is a selling point, so design and finish quality come first.
Mahahual is about four hours from our workshops; we source cement, tile and fittings from Chetumal, about two hours away, bring specialised items from the north in one load and organise multi-day stays with crews lodged in the village. Tropical humidity is the real enemy: vapour barriers, insulated glass and dew-point control stop condensation and mould behind racks and panels.
Supply is limited and many buildings use cisterns and rainwater, so low-flow fittings and storage are standard, and we often add rainwater collection from the roof to the cistern, with first-flush filters, to keep bathrooms and gardens working in the dry months.
Cruise-ship days and holidays bring peaks, so works in hotels are planned around them, with noisy tasks on days without ships and the quietest months, September and October, kept for larger renovations.
