A spa at home is a room full of heat and water inside a house that must stay dry. We build dry saunas, steam rooms, Mayan temazcales, cold plunge pools and home gyms for villas, penthouses and boutique hotels, detailing the vapour barriers, drainage and ventilation that keep the rest of the building healthy in the Caribbean humidity.

Heat and steam inside a tropical house
A steam room produces 100% humidity at 45 °C: if that vapour reaches the wall structure, it rots timber, rusts rebar and grows mould in the rooms around it. We build steam rooms as vapour-sealed, fully waterproofed shells with a sloped ceiling so condensate runs to the walls and not onto bathers, and a floor drain at the low point. Saunas get their own fresh-air supply and exhaust, and wood species that stay stable in the humidity of the coast.
Planning a villa or hotel spa
- Circuit: heat (sauna or steam), cold (plunge or shower) and rest area, in that order and close together.
- Services: dedicated electrical circuits for heaters and chillers, water treatment for plunge pools, and drainage everywhere.
- Temazcal: ideally outdoors in the garden, with space for the fire and the stones, and a shaded rest area.
- Gym: ground floor or a reinforced slab, good ventilation and AC sized for exercise, not for a bedroom.
